grandma and di were kind enough to run into the gift shop and get them each a book before it closed! we didn't think of that and by the time we got there it was closed. thanks so much! the kids were so excited.

So we headed down to Washington DC after going upstate. We did take a day to go to WICKED the musical on broadway. we LOVED it. my mom took us out to eat at Sardi's first. it was amazing! then we went to DC. first we went the National Mall. We stayed overnight and then we went to George Washington's birth place in Mount Vernon. It's kind of too bad we went there. We had thought we could just quickly do that. however, once arriving we discovered it was $15 a person just to see the home/estate and it was a 4 hour tour. we really didn't want to spend tons of money and time there, so we just left after having some ice cream and going into the gift shop. after that we went to the National Air and Space museum. i really really wanted to take the kids to that. we only had 30 minutes before it closed, but dan worked so hard to get us there before it closed. i was just happy we got to see it. he even dropped us off at the door and missed most of it with the kids so we could get there as quick as possible. he did so many thoughtful things that trip to help us have a great time. on top of missing work... anyways, here are the pictures. they kind of speak for themselves i think.
