Upstate New York
So after our first NYC day we went up to the Hill Cumorah Pageant on the 17th of August. We drove along some church history sites along the way, such as Harmony (then called) Pennsylvania where the Priesthood was restored. We didn't have time to stop at a couple other places, i believe we found a Walmart- that was a big deal... we don't really have those in NJ. So we got to the pageant early enough to get great seats up front tho, we just layed out blankets out and we were in the very front. The members of the cast were walking around in their costumes, and were extremely friendly. The show was amazing, it even really lightning and thundered for the part they create it in the play, i thought that was a cool effect from above:) and they didn't even rain on us for it! it didn't start to rain until we were walking to our cars. if that isn't proof the Heavens approved i don't know what is! the protesters were awful. they had mega mikes to shout with. the Church was prepared, in the parking lot were loud speakers playing hymns. but they were so bad. i was appalled that so many protesters would come show up just to protest a play like that. sheesh. it goes a little too far for free speech i think. they can go home if they don't like it... anyways the next day we went to Palmyra and went to the top of the Hill Cumorah. dan, the kids and I went home, and my mom, aunt Di, Audrey and Unaya stayed behind to attend the temple in Palmyra and drove back the next day. it was so pretty driving through upstate New York, i envied all the homes nestled in the thick forests... what a peaceful and green lush place it was. oh we also did Niagara Falls on the 18th, i forgot about that. and we visited the Sacred Grove, home of the Smiths and their farm. it was a really neat place. the Sacred Grove could not be any greener or lush or more beautiful. we played around with our cameras with such a beautiful backdrop...it was worth the time it took us. I felt that whole trip my mom, aunt and sister came we were rushing here, and rushing there, but we had a great time. saw so many neat things that i might not see for a LONG long time.
