Childrens Parade

waiting for the parade to start...testing out the newly decorated bike.

daddy helping decorate Andrews bike

watching the firetruck drive in the front of the parade

hi fireman! (thats what abby says to anything with flashing lights)

whats more like summer than those glasses and some watermelon?

she LOVES root beer.

haha andrew looks sick here, but he was just chewing on some taffy. i thought it was cute how he always cuddles with jenny.

the kids both got punch balloons... abby had 2 actually. all 3 popped. the last one popped right after we got home, abby let it go and her and andrew were chasing after it and it popped. andrew was heart broken....

trying to carry her bike back to the road, she was ready to keep going!
So last night as part of Draper Days we attended the Childrens Parade. It was a lot of fun for the kids. They got to decorate their bikes / wagons whatever they wanted in the parade with balloons, streamers, flags ect... abby LOVED her bike all decorated. i wasn't sure if she would want to ride it with all the streamers i put on there, but she absolutely loved it. Andrew picked "Utah" colors of course. he was so excited all day for the parade, and kept asking me if they would have paint there so he could paint his bike (and actually he calls his bike his "motorcycle" now), red for UTAH. Lucky for us, they did NOT have paint there to paint his bike UTAH. The actual parade was a couple of blocks to the Draper Historic Park from some "old school" building where we decorated on the grass. abby pedaled all the way, but did get pretty distracted by the police on motorcycles flashing their lights. I thought she would be scared, but she tried to get closer to them and waved "hi fireman!". she thinks anything that has flashing lights (construction vehicles included) are firetrucks. its kind of funny how much it drives andrew crazy when she does that, he ALWAYS corrects her... anyways, then we got to the Draper Historic Park where they had free watermelon (which my kids LOVED!) and free salt water taffy, soda and we just sat on the grass eating our treats. i did bring water, but sometimes its fun to have root beer...don't do that very often. and if there was ice cream it would have been even better:). Yesterday was a good day. We looked at a couple houses for rent in daybreak, then me and the kids when swimming. i wasn't sure if that would work out because there were 'scattered thunderstorms' supposedly all day. luckily it was sunshine and hot, and at one point we were the ONLY people in the kiddie area. it was great. hardly any people and great weather. too bad my kids melted down after about an hour (andrew had decided not to eat his lunch...pretty sure thats  what did the trick...). anyways. today we might go check out the "birthday party" at the dino museum... or storytime at the childrens garden. we'll see!
