LAST of the Frontier!

the start of our day, we got to Seward at 5 or 6 i think, it was very early. the sun was just coming up, it was so pretty.

you can see where we were. we left from the left side of the screen, where it says SEWARD RESSURRECTION BAY, and we are the little boat in the middle of the screen. right out of Seward the water was almost 800 feet deep.

couldn't be having a better time anywhere else on Earth!

i've got one!

uncle dallas

its in!

look, you can see it coming in!

bring in a fish

i think they were proudly looking at their fish they had just caught, laughing about how they were all caught at the same time, and how big they were. it was a great day!

these ling cods were all caught at the same time!! it was kind of crazy! but really cool, and nice sized fish!

the trees are so thick!!!

we couldn't have asked for a more gorgeous day

hanging out at the back of boat near the shrimping arm (that brings up the pods )

ahhh!

my friend the showstopper! (if you can tell me what movie that is from, you will get something!)

enjoying the sunny day out of seward, a RARE treat. it didnt always make for the best pictures but it sure felt wonderful!

my mother

stewie and ben getting the shrimp pods ready

there she blows!

you can see the two whales

so pretty.

one is blowing a little, and on the right side you can see anothers back

what a nice shot his back

i was so excited to get this shot

the whales tail

you can see one whales tail and ones back

waving goodbye!

me and my mom

uncle stewie and his friend from Brazil

my mom and dad

me and my parents

dallas and my dad (brothers)

Audrey, it was her birthday (the 24 of august!)

a little closer up. its cool how this glacier is coming around the rock.

this was a really neat glacier coming out to the sea

avalanche marks

i loved how these rocks were

leaving the glacier behind us

my mom and dad. enjoying a day together on the boat!

ready to go shoot a bear! his first one..

travis thinking about something...i think they were getting the canoe off the boat here.

my dad, travis and ben

going to the first try at a bear, we saw 2 black bear on the beach, so we turned around and they paddled in,  but the bear had gone.

one of the fjords in Prince William Sound

off to hunt

going out to hunt a bear, my mom, dad and travis

its hard to tell where the water starts and rocks end....

waiting on the boat....

nice jellyfish, we saw a lot of them. and some otters and i think a seal.

this is where we were waiting while they were hunting

the shot heard round the bay! that was the sound of my dads bear going down...it took 3 shots. and a million seagulls fled the scene...

sun was going down, i think it was like 10 pm here maybe

coming back from their hunt, successful!

one of my favorite scenes.

i'm ready to go captain!

my mom aboard the Good Ethics. waiting for us to return with the bear (my dads. i went back on the canoe just to see it and the other bears for fun)

lovely view....made me a little nervous with my camera on board such a tipsy little canoe, but we made it alright.

you can see here all the grass in the water growing...

there is another bear across the way

the fish here were coming up to spawn (salmon), and it was amazing how many there were. they ever flopping EVERYWHERE, hence all the bears.

looking at other bears

looking thru the viewfinder only to see a bear more close up, i wasn't shooting anything.

with my dads bear. how often do i get a picture this close to a bear?

my uncle stewie with my dads bear

this is the bear my dad shot. cute little guy. or girl...i don't know what it was.

see the bear? its across the river, a little black bear

on our way home from seward, it was such a long day. we left at 4 am, and got back at 3:30 am the next day (so about 24 hrs later). it was not planned to be an overnight trip. we were all exhausted! here my dad was cleaning out his bear.

i really like this one

finally friends, it took some time for abbs to warm up to everybody (maybe that was because there were SO many people), these were taken the day we left for anchorage to fly home.

grandpa and abby

grandpa and grandma and kiddos

grandpa and andrew

we gave him the keys, and told him to start it up...he tried.

going on one last ride, we were on our way out of town to fly home.

my parents and kids
im not sure how this one got so out of order, its in Prince William Sound
So here are the last few pictures i have from alaska. then i can post some of our everyday and swiss days pics! then i would be caught up...
my uncle stewie and his friend from Brazil (another one out of order)
what a pointy mountain...
on one of the airplanes on our ride home. the kids slept very well, but i did not.
We miss alaska so much ! its one of the things i love most. and it has a lot of my family, so that made it even harder to leave! it was hard looking at all the pictures to pick out ones to post. we had such a wonderful time, and when i was putting the ones of abby and the andrew and my mom and dad, abby was jabbering away! i think she definitely recognized and missed my parents! i wish we could see them more often. if i had my way, we would go up at least 3 times a year, but its so expensive, i can't have my way just yet...but i would love it! i still haven't taken dan up in the winter, which when i lived there i decided i couldn't tell if i liked winter or summer better, they are both BEAUTIFUL. You may notice, my kids are missing in all of the fishing pics. we didn't take them! the first time my mom kept them, but the 2nd time i REALLy wanted her to go, and we were able to let David stay home from his first day of school to watch my kids, he did so good too. he turns 14 this month, and he is really quite good with little ones, he really enjoys being with them and playing with them. it was such a lifesaver that he was willing to do that! we were gone almost 24 hours, and i know how much work those two kids are! but we had an amazing time, one i wouldn't trade for anything. that can be said of my whole trip. i had such a hard time leaving. i just LOVE it there.
